The hard work of Lauriston's students, teachers and parents was rewarded today with exceptional 2016 VCE results. The outstanding median study score of 36 for Lauriston students tops off a decade of consistently high results.
Eight girls were in the top 2% of the state with ATAR scores of 98 and above and the dux was in the top 1% with an ATAR of 99.35.
Strong performance across the 85 students who completed the VCE resulted in 78.8% of students achieving an ATAR score over 80. 22.3% of Lauriston’s VCE students were in the top 5% of the state with an ATAR score of 95, and 45.9% were in the top 10% of the state with an ATAR above 90.
Principal Susan Just reflected today on the Class of 2016, remarking that they are a very cohesive group. Whether they have been at Lauriston since kindergarten or joined in Year 10, they have supported one another in their final two years.
“At Lauriston, we celebrate perseverance and determination. For many girls, natural talent doesn’t always bring the best results, it’s often finding a balance of study, a hobby and good instruction. If a student is intellectually curious she can find new ways to solve problems or new words to describe a task. These are some of the best attributes our teachers bring out in Lauriston students,” says Ms Just.
