Lauriston student Yu-Tian Fang has been selected for Australia's four-member team for the 2006 International Biology Olympiad. Chosen from more than 1200 students, the team will compete, against other top science students from around the world, at the 17th International Biology Olympiad, to be held from 9 to 16 July at Rio Cuarto in Argentina.
Yu-Tian's selection for the Australian team is based on her performance at a residential Scholar Training School, held in Canberra earlier this year. Twenty students from across the country were invited to participate in this special, accelerated biology program, and it was from this group that the final Biology Olympiad team was drawn.
Lauriston has already produced two Biology Olympians, Heli Simpson (Bronze Medal, 2005, China) and Stacey Peters (Bronze Medal, 2003, Belarus), and we wish Yu-Tian the best for this very exciting venture.
