The Lauriston Girls' School Council provides scholarships and entrance awards to maintain and improve the very high standards of academic work, arts and music performance by recruiting and retaining outstanding students. Both past achievements and future promise are acknowledged in the scholarship awards. All applicants should have good academic ability.
Overseas students on full fee paying student visas are not eligible to apply to these scholarships.

Applications are invited from girls in Year 5,7,9,10 and 11 in 2010. Year 5,7 and 10 Scholarships are available to internal and external applicants. Year 8, 9 and 11 Scholarships are available ONLY to students wishing to enter Lauriston.
The scholarship testing will be conducted at the Armadale campus at 8.30am on Staurday 28 February. Applications close 5pm Friday 20 February 2009.
Girls should display a high level of ability in academic and extra curricular pursuits. Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate leadership, sporting and artistic interests who are interested in attending school in Armadale.
Scholarships available:
- Year 5 - General excellence/academic scholarships. Available to students entering or currently studying at Lauriston.
- Year 7 - General excellence/academic scholarships. Available to students entering or currently studying at Lauriston.
- Year 9 - General excellence/academic scholarships. Available to students entering the Howqua campus.
- Year 9 - Elise Gillespie/Outreach scholarship for students entering the Howqua campus (further information below).
- Years 10 - General excellence/academic scholarships. Available to students entering or currently studying at Lauriston.
- 11 - General excellence/academic scholarships. Available to students entering Lauriston .
- Music Scholarships - for students entering Years 5, 7 or 10. (further information below). Available to students entering or currently studying at Lauriston.
This scholarship is available to a girl entering the unique Howqua Year 9 campus.
The Scholarship is awarded to a girl who would not be able to attend Lauriston without financial assistance and parents are required to substantiate their claim for financial assistance in their application.
Selection is based on both academic achievement and extra curricula involvement. Girls should demonstrate evidence of leadership capacity, supported by references. The most recent school reports are required and any evidence of special awards or contributions. It is important that the candidate includes a letter giving reasons as to why she should be considered.
This scholarship is open to prospective students only.
The Scholarship covers:
- 80% of tuition fees for four years (Years 9 to 12)
- The residential charge for Year 9 at the Howqua Campus which includes board and all activities with the exception of additional skiing days and transport to and from the Campus at the beginning and end of each term and for exeats.
There is only one scholarship awarded each year and the Principal reserves the right to make no award should she consider that there are no suitable applicants.
These scholarships are offered to girls entering Years 5,7 or 10 who are exceptionally able in music performance and who are studying at least one instrument at a minimum AMEB Grade 5 standard (or equivalent) for girls in Year 7 2009 or AMEB Grade 7 (or equivalent) for girls in Year 10 in 2009. Instruments, other than pianoforte, may be considered at a lower level. An audition is required and these are offered to suitable applicants, at the discretion of the Director of Music.
ALL students wishing to apply for a music scholarhip must:

Scholarships are based on musical ability in addition to the assessment of academic achievement and potential. Students need to demonstrate a personal commitment to music and a willingness to participate in the music program at Lauriston Girls’ School. Scholarships are usually for part remission of tuition fees and may be held for a maximum of six years. Payment of tuition in the candidate’s first instrument is awarded (maximum one hour, 32 lessons per year). It is preferred that students learn at school, however, a teacher outside the school may be acceptable. This must be discussed with the Director of Music.
Scholarships are based on musical ability in addition to the assessment of academic achievement and potential. Applicants are required to have achieved an acceptable academic level in the academic scholarship examination. An audition is also required. For instruments being studied at a lower level (excluding piano/strings), consideration may be given on the submission of an audition tape at the time of application.
