Sport and Physical Education is a central part of education at Lauriston Girls’ School. With over 20 sports played at competitive and recreational level, professional coaches and outstanding facilities, Lauriston has a tremendous reputation for producing top sportswomen at local, state and national level.
However, we recognise that not everyone is a sports star and the sports program is designed as much for those who enjoy some weekly exercise as for those who live for sport.
The comprehensive Physical Education program is an integral part of the curriculum from Kinder to Year 10, and teaches physical and interpersonal skills, develops students’ fitness and creates a positive attitude towards physical activity.
| Lauriston Sport is about fun, fitness and participation - not just for now, but for life. |

All students belong to a House and have the opportunity to compete in a range of team sports in regular House Sport competitions. There are also three major carnivals throughout the year - swimming/diving, athletics and cross country – where students represent their Houses and have a lot of fun! The focus here is very much on teamwork, peer support, fun and participation, with most teams managed by House Captains and other student leaders.
In addition to sporting competition, the school offers a range of activities designed to encourage girls to be fit and active in life - now and in the future.
These include aerobics, pilates, yoga, running club, recreational swimming and diving, and strength and conditioning circuits.
