Lauriston Girls School
Established in 1984, The Lauriston Foundation was the first foundation instituted in a girls’ independent school in Melbourne, with an immediate aim of raising $800,000 for the new swimming pool complex. The inaugural Board of the Foundation comprised of Grahme Dixon (Chairman), Claude Ullin AM (Deputy Chair), Ruth Tideman AM (School Principal), John Calvert-Jones AM, Evelyn Danos, Ian Goodwin, and two representatives from each of the different Foundation membership levels.
The Foundation has played an integral role in supporting Lauriston’s future as a leading girls’ school both within Australia and internationally. It fast became an important vehicle for galvanising community engagement and creating lasting connections for current and past parents, staff and alumnae. The operation of the Foundation within the Advancement Office at Lauriston is funded by the School.
