Individual Needs Coach and Resource Teacher

The Individual Needs Coach and Resource Teacher (Years 5 to 8) works closely with the Individual Differences Coordinator, Individual Differences teachers in the Junior and Senior Schools, School Psychologists and teachers to support the individual learning needs of students from Years 5 to 8. The Individual Needs Coach and Resource Teacher works with key staff in the development of individual programs and in supporting the teachers in differentiating for students with learning needs.

Key Tasks

  • Collaborate with the Individual Differences Coordinator, Individual Differences teachers and teachers in the development of subject-based resources which differentiate for the individual needs of students
  • Collaborate with the Individual Differences Coordinator, Individual Differences teachers and the School Psychologists in the ongoing monitoring of students with learning needs and utilise the School processes and procedures for the management of the students
  • Work with teachers in the Junior and Senior Schools to facilitate the learning support of individual students, through working within small-group or individual-support environments
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the literacy skills of students with learning needs
  • Support the English Faculty and Junior School teachers with literacy development
  • Work with teachers to develop effective pedagogy for the delivery of Individual Education Plans for students or intervention strategies
  • Support teachers in the implementation of a differentiated curriculum within their classrooms
  • Support teachers in the modification of work and assessment for students with learning needs
  • Monitor students with identified learning needs and regularly review their progress with classroom teachers

Child Protection Training

Lauriston Girls’ School has developed a Child Protection Training program that has been designed to assist staff with the knowledge and skills required to respond appropriately to issues of child protection. Your on-going employment is subject to you completing the Lauriston Girls’ School Child Protection training program.
