Early Learning FAQs

Lauriston Kindergarten and Childcare play-based learning programs are grounded in the Reggio Emilia philosophy. We have three-year-old and four-year-old Kindergarten programs, which include music, dance, drama and visual arts as well as strong numeracy and literacy programs. We also have our Bush Kinder, Artist in Residence and Indigenous learning experiences.

Why is early learning important?

Childhood experiences form the foundation of what we become – the ability to learn, our sense of ourselves in relation to the world of nature, of people, of things. Kindergarten helps each child develop foundational physical, social, emotional and cognitive skills alongside pre-numeracy and literacy skills.

These vital early learning experiences are provided in a supportive atmosphere where children feel loved, respected and valued.
