‘Creativity is intelligence having fun.’ Albert Einstein

The process of creating art has many positive effects on a child’s character and wellbeing. Our program promotes confidence, exploration, collaboration, problem-solving and creativity.

In 2018 we welcomed Andrew Plant, author and illustrator of many children’s books such as The Poppy, The Little Dinosaur and Spark. He engaged the children in real-life sketching, illustrated stories they made up, and taught them how to tell stories through illustration. Their final project was creating an incredible mural of a dragon, which was unveiled at the LAA Vibrant Arts Festival.

In 2019, artist Deborah Kelly celebrated the diversity of different materials. The children designed and built their Dream Home, learned clay modelling, created puppets and put on a puppet show, made an interactive ‘Urban Forest’ installation depicting the importance of trees and who lives in them, and made wonderful collaborative sculptures for the Kindergarten.
