‘Children involved in unstructured play in nature are calmer and will engage in richer imaginative play, increased physical activity, more focused play and with positive social interactions.’ Nedovic et al, 2013

Nature play is not simply taking children outside to play. The program is underpinned by theories and pedagogy. Nature is a perfectly balanced play space for children, where they can problem-solve, become independent and acquire leadership skills whilst having uninterrupted periods of time to pursue games of imagination and creativity. Children have real-life opportunities to make dynamic risk assessment that develops resilience, determination and courage.

Our Bush Kinder Day is an optional program for our 4-year-old Kindergarten children. It is held every Friday at the Urban Forest which runs between Waverley Road and Dandenong Road, approached via Bruce Street. The children attend from 9.30am–1.30pm and parents are requested to drop off and collect from the nature play site. The cost for this Bush Kinder program is $450 per term.

Under the supervision of two educators, the children engage in bush activities and invent their own games and creations.

We supply hats for the summer and full bib and brace pants with a jacket for winter. The children bring their own lunch and morning tea and eat when they are hungry, which encourages independence and responsibility.
