At the season’s first team event on the weekend, the parents were instrumental in making everything run smoothly and to offer encouragement to the team.

This year, there are nearly 70 students competing for Lauriston across a wide range of events including cross country skiing, alpine giant slalom, snowboarding, moguls and slopestyle (girls ski or snowboard down a course which has a variety of obstacles such as jumps). They’re scored for complexity of jumps, control and stability and quality of tricks. It's not for the faint-hearted.

SnowSports co-ordinator, Lisa Howden said she was very happy with form of the new team members.

“There is lots of wonderful talent in the team.  We have the energetic rookies to the fabulous older role models, some of whom are competing on the world circuit,” says Lisa.

It is going to be a fabulous season and so we hope the snow continues to fall.
