UN Walk for Women

Students in Years 10–12 are invited to take part in the UN Walk for Women 2019 on Friday 1 March. This event raises funds for the UN Women’s Program and will help support and empower women in the Pacific region who suffer violence and abuse. Many other Melbourne schools will be walking and it is a $10 donation to participate. Simply register at Melbourne Grammar at 4.30pm and then walk from Melbourne Grammar around The Tan (3.45 km). There will be a barbeque, cake stand and music afterwards. This is not a formal Lauriston event so students will need to organise their own transport, but your support at this fun and social event would be greatly appreciated!

Give $5 for a farmer

We had a wonderful response from the Lauriston community last Friday and raised over $3200 for Aussie Farmers. This is the most we have raised on a casual clothes day and will certainly help our farmers. Thank you.

Down Syndrome Day

By wearing colourful socks to School on Thursday 21 March you are encouraging people to start a conversation about diversity, uniqueness, inclusion and acceptance of people with Down Syndrome. Get creative with your socks and bring along a donation for Down Syndrome Australia.

G.I.V.E. Back Day #2

The next opportunity to participate in Lauriston’s G.I.V.E. Back (Girls in Values Education) program is for Years 10–12 families on Sunday 12 May at 2.45–6.00pm. It’s an opportunity for parents and girls to experience first-hand our disadvantaged community and the dynamic organisations that support them, fostering awareness, a strong social conscience and empathy. Online registration for 15 families (1 parent /1 daughter) will open on April 24 on Flexischools.

The day will involve packaging food and delivering to housing commission flats across Melbourne with C Care. Cost: $25 per family.
