Students who enjoy debating can participate in House debating in the second term and in interschool events organised by the Debating Association of Victoria. Debating activities are open to beginners, and the School provides training and practice. Students can also take part in events and competitions in mooting, British parliamentary debating, and public speaking.  

Public speaking opportunities occur throughout the year; competitions include Rostrum Voice of Youth, DAV Junior and Senior Public Speaking, Legacy, Aingar and Plain English Speaking Awards.
