Drama
Imagination, collaboration and performance.
Drama plays a critical role in Lauriston’s mission of building skills for life, enabling students to further deepen qualities highly valued in the workplace, including conflict resolution, respect for their peers, confident communication, listening, organisation, teamwork and problem solving. Drama creates a unique space of vulnerability that deepens and builds relationships.
Each year, students are encouraged to become involved in the production of a School musical or play. The diverse skills required to create a theatre production – from performing or playing music to designing and making the sets and costumes – create opportunities for each girl to explore different interests and discover her unique talents, both individually and in collaboration with a team.
The broad range of roles within the dramatic arts beyond acting and singing, include costume and set design, make up design, sound and lighting, scriptwriting and management, choreography, marketing and publicity.
