We are pleased to share that Lauriston Girls’ School has been recognised among Australia’s leading primary schools in today’s Herald Sun, ranked 14th nationally and 6th in Victoria.
While we are proud of this result, what matters most is what sits beneath it. In our Junior School, we are deeply committed to ensuring that every girl builds exceptional foundations in literacy and numeracy. We invest significantly in this work through specialist leadership, including our Literacy Coordinator and Numeracy Coordinator, and through an adaptive approach to grouping, so that each student is both supported and appropriately challenged.
Just as importantly, our focus extends beyond academics. Our Junior School motto, Care, Share, Respect, shapes the way we educate the whole child. We place strong emphasis on character, leadership and social and personal wellbeing so that our girls grow not only as capable learners but as thoughtful, confident young people.
Our small class sizes mean every girl is known. She is seen, challenged and supported by teachers who understand her strengths and where she needs to grow. This individual attention, combined with the continuity of a combined Junior and Senior School, allows our students to develop with confidence across their academic, social and emotional lives.
These rankings are based on measures such as NAPLAN performance, attendance and student to teacher ratios. They are a pleasing affirmation of our work, but they never define it. The true measure of our success is the daily experience of our students.
This achievement reflects the collective effort of our dedicated Junior School staff, our engaged students and our supportive families. Thank you for the contribution each of you makes to our community.
