Music at Lauriston

The Lauriston Music Program seeks to establish and nurture a lifelong love of music in our students through performing, listening to music and appreciating the therapeutic value of music in their everyday lives.

From Prep to Year 12, students have the opportunity to explore and develop their musical abilities across a range of genres.

Private music tuition is available to all students. A comprehensive offering of instrumental, vocal and music theory is delivered by our team of highly experienced music professionals.

Music scholarships are also available.

Live Performances

The bi-annual Gala Concert held at Melbourne’s iconic Hamer Hall features performances from Kindergarten to Year 12. Every alternate year, our Years 5–12 Concert is held at the Melbourne Recital Centre.

Lauriston Junior Music Program

The Lauriston Junior Music Program (Kinder to Year 6) seeks to establish and nurture a lifelong love of Music in our students. Whether this be through performance, attending performances, listening to Music or appreciating the therapeutic value of Music in their everyday lives.

The Music Program is based on the Kodaly and Orff philosophies of Music Education, where children develop a range of musical skills through singing, listening, moving, dancing, playing, improvising and performing.

Performance Opportunities

Performance opportunities in the Junior School include informal lunchtime recitals, masterclasses and assemblies to more formal concerts and performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre and Hamer Hall.
